Launching safely into space with EB technology

At EADS in Munich, amongst other things the propulsion rockets for the European launch rocket Ariane are developed and produced using Steigerwald EB systems. In this case the emphasis of the EB welding process is working on larger components with complex welding seam shapes or areas to be processed. Welding here takes place in a Steigerwald EB chamber machine. This enables even complex work pieces, which would otherwise have to be fabricated from a single piece at great expense, to be cost-effectively welded together out of several parts to safely make a whole unit.
